Blackmagic Streaming Decoder 4K
Receive H.264 or H.265 internet streams and convert to 12G-SDI and HDMI. Pairs with the Streaming Encoder 4K for professional point-to-point broadcast links with tally, camera control and talkback.
- Decodes H.264 and H.265 streams from any SRT or RTMP source — convert internet video streams back to 12G-SDI and HDMI for integration into broadcast infrastructure
- 12G-SDI and HDMI simultaneous output — feed decoded stream to SDI routers, monitors, recording systems and HDMI displays simultaneously
- Return tally, camera control and talkback — pairs with the Streaming Encoder 4K to create a complete point-to-point broadcast link with full production intercom capability
- Blackmagic Cloud integration — remote monitoring and management of the decoder alongside the paired Streaming Encoder 4K from any location
- Receives any H.264 or H.265 SRT and RTMP stream — not limited to working with the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder, compatible with any standards-compliant stream source
- For point-to-point broadcast links — replace satellite or microwave contribution circuits with an internet-based encoder/decoder pair for professional broadcast quality contribution
What is the Blackmagic Streaming Decoder 4K?
The Streaming Decoder 4K is the receiving end of a professional point-to-point internet broadcast link. It receives H.264 or H.265 video streams delivered via SRT or RTMP and converts them back to 12G-SDI and HDMI outputs for integration into broadcast production infrastructure at the receiving end. While it works with any compatible stream source, it is specifically designed to pair with the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder 4K for complete encoder-decoder broadcast links.
The combination of the Encoder 4K at a remote location and the Decoder 4K at the production facility creates a professional broadcast contribution circuit over the internet — replacing the satellite uplink and downlink, or microwave link, that traditional broadcast workflows required for remote camera feeds.
Tally, camera control and talkback
When paired with the Streaming Encoder 4K, the Decoder 4K provides a complete broadcast intercom and control circuit alongside the video signal. The production gallery sends a tally signal to illuminate the on-air tally light at the remote camera. Camera control commands allow the director to remotely adjust the remote camera from the gallery. Talkback provides a two-way intercom circuit between the production team and the camera operator at the remote location — all embedded in the internet link between the Encoder and Decoder pair.
Blackmagic Cloud management
Both the Encoder and Decoder can be managed simultaneously via Blackmagic Cloud — monitoring stream health, adjusting encoding parameters and managing connections remotely without physical access to either unit. This is essential when the encoder is deployed at a distant location without local technical support.

The Streaming Decoder 4K is the receiving end of professional internet broadcast contribution links — converting streams back to broadcast-standard SDI and HDMI outputs.
Broadcast Contribution Receiving
Receive remote camera contributions from distant locations as SDI feeds into the production facility routing infrastructure — replacing traditional satellite downlinks.
Point-to-Point Broadcast Links
Pair with the Streaming Encoder 4K at a remote location for a complete contribution circuit with tally, talkback and camera control over the internet.
Remote Sports Production
Receive SDI camera feeds from remote sports venues at a central production facility without satellite infrastructure. SRT provides resilient delivery over public internet.
Remote Studio Reception
Receive feeds from remote correspondents, interview subjects and field reporters as SDI inputs at the main studio — without satellite booking costs.
Multi-Campus Broadcasting
Connect broadcast cameras at satellite campuses and remote university locations to the central broadcast infrastructure via internet contribution links.
Broadcast Engineers
Deploy as the receive end of any SRT or RTMP internet contribution circuit, regardless of the encoding source — compatible with any H.264 or H.265 SRT stream.
Does the Decoder 4K only work with the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder 4K?
No. The decoder receives any H.264 or H.265 stream delivered via SRT or RTMP — from any compatible encoder. However, tally, camera control and talkback are only available when paired with the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder 4K.
What outputs does the decoder provide?
12G-SDI and HDMI simultaneously. Both carry the decoded video and audio from the received stream. The 12G-SDI output integrates into SDI broadcast routing infrastructure; the HDMI output feeds monitors, displays and HDMI-input equipment.
Can the Decoder receive 4K streams?
Yes — the decoder supports H.265 (HEVC) 4K streams when used with a 4K H.265 source. H.264 at 4K is also supported up to the limits of the H.264 standard at those resolutions.
The Streaming Decoder 4K receives streams from the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder 4K and from any other H.264/H.265 SRT or RTMP source. Managed via Blackmagic Cloud or local web interface.
