Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini IP to HDMI SFP
Identical to the IP to HDMI but with an SFP socket accepting 10G optical fibre, 10G copper or SDI optical modules — for 2110 IP to HDMI conversion over distances beyond standard copper Ethernet.
- SFP socket instead of RJ-45 — accepts any SFP module including 10G optical fibre (single or multi-mode), 10G copper SFP and SDI optical modules for maximum installation flexibility
- Optical fibre connectivity for distances beyond 100m — standard copper 10G Ethernet is limited to 100m; optical SFP modules extend this to kilometres in large venue and campus installations
- Same conversion as the IP to HDMI — receives SMPTE ST 2110 IP video and outputs HDMI, LCD status display, 1/3 rack width, identical feature set with only the network connector differing
- Compatible with SDI optical SFP modules — the SFP socket also accepts SDI optical modules, enabling direct SDI optical fibre input in addition to 2110 IP over fibre
- PoE++ powered via SFP or DC powered — power from the network infrastructure or from a DC supply depending on what the SFP module and switch support
- For long-distance broadcast installations — stadiums, campuses, multi-floor facilities and OB contributions where copper Ethernet cable runs are impractical
When to choose the SFP version over the RJ-45
The 2110 IP Mini IP to HDMI SFP is functionally identical to the standard IP to HDMI in every respect except the network connector. The standard IP to HDMI uses RJ-45 copper 10G Ethernet (limited to approximately 100m). The SFP version uses an SFP socket, accepting any standard SFP module — which means optical fibre connections extending to several kilometres.
Choose the SFP version when: the converter is more than 100m from the nearest network switch; when the existing infrastructure uses fibre rather than copper; when the installation specifies optical isolation for electrical or interference reasons; or when SDI optical fibre is the signal medium and an SDI optical SFP module is used instead of a 10G module.
SFP module flexibility
The SFP socket accepts any industry-standard 10G SFP module. This includes short-range multi-mode fibre SFP (for campus and in-building runs), long-range single-mode SFP (for site-to-site and broadcast contribution links), 10G copper SFP for local rack installations where fibre is not available but the SFP form factor is required, and Blackmagic SDI optical SFP modules for SDI-over-fibre input directly to the unit.
SFP modules are not included — they are specified and purchased separately based on the fibre type, wavelength and distance required for each specific installation.

The SFP variant is the correct choice when copper 10G Ethernet cable runs are impractical due to distance or when optical fibre is the preferred cabling medium.
Stadium and Large Venue
Monitor positions at the far end of large stadia — press boxes, VIP areas, technical positions — that are hundreds of metres from the production core, beyond the range of copper Ethernet.
Multi-Floor and Campus
Floor-to-floor and building-to-building 2110 IP distribution in large facilities where optical fibre is the long-haul cabling standard and copper runs are too short.
Broadcast Contribution Links
Point-to-point fibre contributions from remote production positions into a 2110 IP facility network over longer distances using single-mode SFP modules.
Broadcast System Integration
Specified for any installation where cable distance, electromagnetic interference or existing fibre infrastructure makes optical SFP the preferred connection at the converter position.
OB Truck to Venue Fibre
OB trucks connected to venue fibre infrastructure use SFP-equipped units to interface the 2110 IP truck network with venue camera positions or fixed infrastructure points.
Healthcare and Clinical Broadcast
Long-distance fibre runs within hospital buildings, connecting medical broadcast infrastructure across floors and wings where optical isolation is preferred.
Is an SFP module included?
No. SFP modules are specified and purchased separately based on the fibre type (multi-mode or single-mode), wavelength and distance required. Contact us for SFP module recommendations for your specific installation requirements.
What is the difference between this and the standard IP to HDMI?
The only difference is the network connector. The standard IP to HDMI has an RJ-45 10G Ethernet port (copper, up to 100m). This SFP version has an SFP socket instead, accepting optical fibre or copper SFP modules for installations where RJ-45 copper cable runs are not practical.
The SFP version is functionally identical to the standard IP to HDMI — it works within any SMPTE ST 2110 compliant network, with the SFP socket providing greater cabling flexibility.
Broadcast Control and MonitoringBlackmagic 2110 IP Mini converters are compatible with any SMPTE ST 2110 compliant IP broadcast infrastructure. They appear as standard IP video endpoints on the network and work with all major broadcast production systems that support the SMPTE ST 2110 standard, including those from Grass Valley, Evertz, Ross Video and Sony.
