What is the YoloLiv Instream?
The YoloLiv Instream is a purpose-built vertical live streaming device for TikTok Live, Instagram Live and Zoom. Unlike the YoloBox range which outputs in standard 16:9 horizontal format, the Instream is designed from the ground up for portrait 9:16 — the native format of TikTok and Instagram on a smartphone screen.
It accepts 3 inputs — HDMI, USB and USB-C — and allows multi-camera switching in vertical format. A live commerce seller, for example, might switch between a product close-up camera (HDMI), a face-to-camera (USB) and a second product angle (USB-C) during a TikTok Live session, all in portrait orientation that fills the viewer's smartphone screen completely.

Why vertical format matters
TikTok Live and Instagram Live are consumed on smartphones in portrait orientation. A horizontal 16:9 stream appears with large black bars at the top and bottom of the screen — the actual content takes up less than a third of the viewer's display. A native 9:16 stream fills the entire screen, appearing dramatically more engaging, professional and immersive to the viewer.
Most live streaming solutions produce 16:9 output by default. The Instream produces 9:16 natively — every aspect of the interface, overlays and camera layout is designed for vertical. This is not a software rotation of a horizontal stream; it is vertical-first throughout.

Can the Instream stream to YouTube or Facebook?
The Instream is designed specifically for vertical platforms — TikTok Live and Instagram Live. While it can technically stream to any RTMP endpoint, YouTube and Facebook are horizontal platforms where a portrait stream would appear with black bars on the sides. For YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and horizontal platforms, the YoloBox Pro or Ultra are the correct choices.
How is the Instream different from just using a phone for TikTok Live?
A phone provides a single camera at fixed position. The Instream allows up to 3 camera inputs switched live during the broadcast, adds overlay graphics, runs independently of your phone (so your phone is free), provides a dedicated reliable streaming device rather than relying on a phone's battery and connectivity, and records a local backup to SD card simultaneously.
Can I connect a professional camera to the Instream via HDMI?
Yes — the HDMI input accepts any camera with HDMI output including DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, camcorders and PTZ cameras. The Instream captures the HDMI signal in vertical format, so portrait-oriented camera setups or cameras that can output a vertical crop work best.
Does the Instream support multiple simultaneous platforms?
The Instream is optimised for streaming to one vertical platform at a time — primarily TikTok Live or Instagram Live. For multi-platform simultaneous streaming (including vertical), see the YoloBox Ultra which streams to up to 6 platforms simultaneously in 9:16 portrait format.
The Instream is designed for direct TikTok Live and Instagram Live streaming without any additional software. It also works with Zoom as an input device.
Primary Platforms (native vertical integration)The Instream streams to any RTMP endpoint in portrait format. If a platform accepts RTMP it will work — however it is optimised and tested specifically for TikTok Live, Instagram Live and Zoom.
