The Mid-Range Production System

The Magewell Director One occupies the centre of the Director family — offering meaningfully more production capability than the Director Mini while remaining considerably more accessible than the Director Plus in both cost and operational complexity.

Organisations that have outgrown the Director Mini — needing more camera angles, serving larger online audiences, requiring higher-quality output or managing more complex production scenarios — find the Director One to be the natural next step. It delivers the same self-contained, no-laptop production philosophy with expanded capability for mid-size productions.

A mid-size church streaming to a congregation of several thousand, a corporate communications team producing executive announcements, a conference centre running breakout sessions — these are the producers for whom the Director One is designed.

More Cameras, More Capacity

The additional camera inputs on the Director One open multi-angle production scenarios that the Director Mini cannot accommodate — a dedicated wide shot, a presenter close-up, a screen capture input and a graphics feed can all be managed simultaneously.

The expanded streaming capacity means more viewers can receive a higher-quality stream simultaneously, reducing buffering and compression artefacts for audiences that have grown as the organisation's streaming presence has matured.

For the highest-specification Director with 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E, genlock, 128GB internal storage and the full feature set including third-party app support, see the Director Plus (£1,460).

The Director One serves organisations and production teams whose live events have grown beyond single-camera or entry-level multi-camera workflows.

Mid-Size Houses of Worship

Growing congregations streaming to hundreds or thousands of online viewers need the expanded input capacity and streaming power of the Director One. Multiple camera angles — wide sanctuary, close worship team, screen capture — all managed from one device.

🏢

Corporate Internal Communications

Internal comms teams running town halls, all-hands meetings and executive broadcasts for hundreds to thousands of employees need the reliability and professional output quality that the Director One provides without a dedicated broadcast infrastructure.

🎓

University & College Events

Universities streaming graduation ceremonies, public lectures, debate competitions and major sporting events to alumni and remote students need multi-camera capability and the higher streaming capacity the Director One delivers.

🏅

Regional & County Sports

Regional sports organisations covering league finals, county championships and club fixtures can produce professional multi-camera streams for supporters associations and online audiences who cannot attend in person.

🏛️

Local Government & Council Meetings

Local authorities and councils streaming public meetings, planning committee sessions and full council meetings to constituents need reliable, professional multi-camera production from a self-contained system managed by a single operator.

🎤

Conference Centres & Event Venues

Conference venues providing live streaming as a value-added service for clients hosting hybrid conferences, AGMs and seminars need a system that any venue technician can operate without specialist broadcast training.

🎭

Performing Arts Organisations

Regional theatres, concert halls and arts centres adding live streaming to their programme need multi-camera production capability for capturing performances with wide shot, close-up and stage detail angles.

💼

Professional Associations & Institutes

Professional bodies hosting annual conferences, CPD events and awards ceremonies can stream to members who cannot travel, with the production quality that reflects the professional standing of the organisation.

🔬

Academic Conferences & Research Events

Research departments and academic institutions hosting international symposia, keynote lectures and panel discussions can stream to a global academic audience with multiple camera angles from a single portable system.

What is the difference between the Director One and Director Mini?

The Director One (£1,049) provides more camera inputs, greater streaming capacity and expanded production features compared to the Director Mini (£799). It is designed for organisations that have outgrown entry-level requirements and need more camera angles, higher streaming quality or more complex production scenarios.

Does it need a laptop or external computer?

No. The Director One is completely self-contained. All switching, streaming and recording happen inside the device. The built-in touchscreen handles all operational control without any external computer.

Can it stream to multiple platforms simultaneously?

Yes. The Director One supports simultaneous multi-platform streaming via RTMP/RTMPS — YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch and custom RTMP destinations can all receive the stream at the same time.

When should I choose the Director Plus over the Director One?

The Director Plus (£1,460) adds 5G modem connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, genlock synchronisation, 128GB internal storage, third-party app support and the full specification including 4× HDMI 2.0 + 2× USB AV + 10 IP sources. Choose the Plus for professional broadcast-standard productions, location work requiring 5G, or the highest-specification output.
