Ultra Stream SDI
SDI equivalent — same standalone streaming with 3G-SDI input for broadcast cameras.
Standalone HDMI streaming encoder — connect your camera, configure once, stream to multiple platforms without any PC.
The Magewell Ultra Stream HDMI is a hardware streaming encoder that operates entirely independently of a computer. Connect an HDMI camera, connect to the network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, configure your streaming destination once via the web interface, and the device streams continuously and reliably without any further involvement from a computer or operator.
This standalone architecture is the principal advantage of the Ultra Stream over PC-based streaming software. Software encoders depend on the health and resource availability of the host computer — operating system updates, background processes, application conflicts and hardware changes all create potential points of failure. The Ultra Stream has none of these. It does one thing, reliably, every time it is powered on.
For organisations that stream regularly from a fixed location — a church, a lecture room, a studio, a meeting room — the Ultra Stream HDMI is permanently connected and ready. No laptop setup, no OBS configuration, no stream key re-entry. Power on and stream.
The HDMI input accepts signals from the broadest range of sources in use today: DSLR and mirrorless cameras with HDMI output, PTZ cameras, presentation computers, video conferencing systems, media players, document cameras and HDMI output from production switchers.
This versatility makes the Ultra Stream HDMI the natural encoder choice for organisations where the streaming source varies — a lecture room where the source might be a laptop presentation one day and a camera the next, or an event space where different events bring different equipment.
For SDI broadcast cameras requiring the same standalone streaming capability, see the Ultra Stream SDI (£330). For a complete multi-camera production system with built-in streaming, see the Magewell Director range from £799.

The Ultra Stream HDMI is designed for single-camera or single-source streaming scenarios where reliability and simplicity are more important than multi-camera production capability.
A podium or lectern camera connected to an Ultra Stream HDMI streams a keynote, sermon, lecture or address directly to YouTube or Facebook Live without any other equipment in the signal chain. Simple to set up, reliable in operation.
Universities and colleges streaming single-camera lectures to remote students or for archive can use the Ultra Stream HDMI permanently connected in the room — powered on before each lecture, streaming without any laptop or software interaction from the lecturer.
Yoga studios, personal trainers and fitness instructors can stream class content from a fixed HDMI camera permanently connected to an Ultra Stream — no phone app reliability issues, no laptop to set up, consistent stream quality for subscribers.
Solo musicians, bands and performance spaces can stream rehearsals, gigs and recitals from a fixed camera connected permanently to the Ultra Stream. Configure streaming destinations once and stream from the same camera position every time.
Conference rooms with HDMI video conferencing cameras or presentation displays can add streaming capability via the Ultra Stream without modifying the room's existing AV infrastructure — the encoder sits between the HDMI source and the network.
Smaller places of worship without the budget or technical resource for a full Director system can stream services from a single HDMI camera permanently connected to an Ultra Stream — reliable, maintenance-free streaming to online congregants.
Research labs streaming experiment observations, specimen analysis and instrument demonstrations to remote colleagues and students can connect laboratory camera HDMI outputs directly to the Ultra Stream for continuous or scheduled streaming.
Facilities streaming manufacturing process footage to quality teams, safety monitors or remote management can use the Ultra Stream HDMI to stream HDMI camera feeds over the corporate network to authenticated RTMP or SRT ingest servers.
News organisations and broadcasters establishing fixed contribution points — at a government building, a sports venue or a regular reporting location — can use the Ultra Stream HDMI as a permanent, low-maintenance streaming uplink from any HDMI camera or encoder output.
