Magewell Pro Capture AIO 4K Plus

Multi-format 4K PCIe capture — HDMI 2.0, 3G-SDI and analogue composite in one card with genlock for mixed-signal broadcast environments.

  • Three signal formats in one card — HDMI 2.0 (4K), 3G-SDI and analogue composite, covering every signal type from modern 4K to legacy analogue in a single PCIe slot
  • 4K capture from HDMI 2.0 — up to 3840×2160 at 60fps from modern 4K cameras, presentation systems and broadcast equipment
  • Genlock input — synchronise capture to external reference for broadcast-standard timing across HDMI, SDI and analogue sources
  • Software-selectable input — switch between HDMI, SDI and composite via software without physical reconnection, ideal for mixed-format facilities
  • Low-latency PCIe DMA capture — direct to system memory on whichever input is active, with consistent performance across all three signal formats
  • Driverless on Linux via V4L2 — suitable for Linux-based mixed-format ingest servers and automated broadcast workflows

Every Format, One PCIe Slot

The Magewell Pro Capture AIO 4K Plus is the most format-versatile card in the Pro Capture range — HDMI 2.0 (capturing up to 4K60), 3G-SDI and analogue composite all on a single PCIe card. In professional broadcast and AV environments where equipment spans multiple signal generations and format standards, this multi-format capability from one slot has significant operational value.

A workstation with the AIO 4K Plus can accept any signal format without hardware changes — switch from a 4K HDMI camera to a broadcast SDI camera to a legacy analogue source via software selection. No additional cards, no slot changes, no reconnection. This format flexibility is particularly valuable in rental, broadcast facilities managing legacy and modern equipment simultaneously, and AV integration contexts where signal format varies between projects.

4K and Genlock Together

The combination of 4K HDMI input and genlock in the AIO 4K Plus places it above the basic Pro Capture HDMI 4K (£432) — the genlock synchronises capture to facility reference regardless of which input format is active, which is required for broadcast facility integration at 4K.

The SDI input adds the ability to connect broadcast cameras, production switcher outputs and SDI infrastructure to the same workstation that receives 4K HDMI sources — without changing the capture card or needing a second PCIe slot for an SDI card.

The analogue input handles composite CVBS sources from legacy equipment — completing the multi-format coverage that makes the AIO 4K Plus the single capture card for facilities that must accommodate every signal type.

The Pro Capture AIO 4K Plus serves mixed-format broadcast and AV environments where a single PCIe capture card must handle HDMI, SDI and analogue sources without hardware changes.

🏢

Mixed-Format Broadcast Facilities

Broadcast facilities operating a mix of 4K HDMI, SDI broadcast cameras and legacy analogue equipment can standardise on the AIO 4K Plus across ingest workstations — each workstation accepts whichever signal format the production requires without card changes or rewiring.

📺

Broadcast Format Transition Infrastructure

Facilities transitioning from SDI to HDMI 4K production can use the AIO 4K Plus as a bridge capture card — accepting both old SDI cameras and new 4K HDMI cameras on the same workstation during the transition, protecting the infrastructure investment across the format migration.

🎬

AV Rental & Broadcast Services

AV rental companies and broadcast service providers working across diverse client requirements — some with 4K HDMI cameras, some with broadcast SDI infrastructure, some with legacy analogue systems — can specify the AIO 4K Plus as a single universal capture card for their fleet of ingest workstations.

🔬

Multi-Format Research Capture Workstations

Research institutions operating scientific instruments and cameras across multiple technology generations — modern 4K HDMI imaging systems alongside older SDI or analogue scientific cameras — can capture from all sources on a single workstation without dedicated cards per format.

🏛️

National Archive & Heritage Digitisation

National archives and heritage institutions digitising collections spanning multiple eras of recording technology can use the AIO 4K Plus for both modern 4K acquisition and legacy analogue digitisation from a single workstation platform.

🎓

Broadcast Journalism Training Facilities

University broadcast journalism programmes teaching across multiple camera technologies — from legacy SDI studio cameras to modern 4K HDMI cameras and older analogue equipment — can use the AIO 4K Plus in student workstations for full format coverage.

🔌

Complex AV Integration Projects

Systems integrators specifying production workstations for environments with diverse existing signal infrastructure can use the AIO 4K Plus to future-proof capture capability — HDMI, SDI and analogue covered from one card regardless of what equipment the client connects.

🏭

Industrial Multi-Format Quality Control

Quality control environments with cameras spanning multiple vintages and formats — 4K HDMI machine vision cameras alongside legacy SDI process cameras and older analogue CCTV — can capture from all sources on a single dedicated QC workstation.

⚙️

Multi-Format Ingest Server Development

Broadcast software developers building ingest management systems that must handle HDMI, SDI and analogue sources from a single server node can use the AIO 4K Plus with the Magewell SDK for unified multi-format capture access.

Can it capture from HDMI and SDI simultaneously?

No. The AIO 4K Plus captures from one input at a time — selected via software. It provides format flexibility across three signal types, but not simultaneous multi-source capture. For simultaneous dual-channel capture, see the Pro Capture Dual HDMI or Dual SDI cards.

What is the maximum resolution from each input?

HDMI 2.0 input: up to 3840×2160 at 60fps (4K UHD). SDI input: up to 1920×1080 at 60fps via 3G-SDI. Composite CVBS: standard definition (720×480 NTSC or 720×576 PAL). Each input captures at its native signal resolution.

Why choose this over the Pro Capture HDMI 4K at £432?

The Pro Capture HDMI 4K (£432) provides HDMI 4K capture only. The AIO 4K Plus (£637) adds SDI and analogue composite inputs alongside the 4K HDMI — useful if you ever need to connect SDI cameras or legacy analogue sources to the same workstation. It also includes genlock. The price difference reflects the additional input formats and broadcast-standard features.

Does the genlock work on all three input formats?

Yes. The genlock input synchronises the capture timing regardless of which input (HDMI, SDI or composite) is currently active. This ensures consistent frame timing relative to the facility reference signal across all three signal types.
