Two HDMI Sources, One PCIe Slot
The Magewell Pro Capture Dual HDMI provides two completely independent HDMI capture channels from a single PCIe x1 card. Both channels operate simultaneously — each receives its own HDMI source, captures at up to 1080p60, and delivers the video independently to the host via PCIe DMA.
This dual-channel architecture from a single PCIe slot is significantly more efficient than using two separate single-channel cards. It consumes only one PCIe slot, requires only one driver installation, and presents two independent capture devices to the operating system and software applications. The Magewell SDK provides synchronised access to both channels for applications that require frame-accurate dual-source capture.
For two-camera HDMI production workstations — the most common multi-camera scenario in corporate AV, education and interview production — the Dual HDMI is the correct and most efficient capture solution.
Two-Camera Professional Workflows
The practical applications for dual-channel HDMI PCIe capture span a wide range of professional environments. An interview recording workstation captures the subject camera on channel one and the interviewer camera on channel two simultaneously. A lecture capture workstation captures the presenter camera and the document camera together. A presentation production server captures the screen content and the presenter simultaneously for picture-in-picture post-production.
The independence of the two channels is important — each channel can be accessed by a different software application simultaneously, or both can be consumed by a single multi-channel application.
