4K SDI into IP Networks
The Magewell Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus encodes 4K SDI cameras — using 6G-SDI for 4K60 output — into Full NDI for distribution over standard Ethernet infrastructure. It is the standard 4K SDI to NDI encoder for broadcast facilities operating 4K SDI cameras and transitioning to IP-based production.
By encoding at the camera position, the Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus eliminates the need for 6G-SDI routing infrastructure between cameras and the production area. A single Ethernet cable carries 4K NDI from the encoder to any NDI application on the network — with PoE powering the encoder from the same cable.
6G-SDI — 4K on Existing Cabling
6G-SDI uses the same 75-ohm BNC coaxial cable as HD-SDI. Existing SDI cabling infrastructure can carry 6G-SDI signals, meaning 4K cameras can be integrated without new cabling — the Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus then encodes to 4K NDI for distribution over the Ethernet network.
