Magewell USB Capture AIO

HDMI, SDI and analogue composite capture from one device — the all-in-one USB capture solution for mixed signal environments.

  • Three signal types in one device — HDMI, 3G-SDI and analogue composite — covering the full range of signal formats from modern to legacy
  • Select any input via software — switch between HDMI, SDI and analogue sources without swapping hardware or disconnecting cables
  • Driverless UVC/UAC — works immediately on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS without installation, even in restricted IT environments
  • Bus powered from USB 3.0 — single cable operation with no external power supply needed, ideal for portable multi-format workflows
  • Captures up to 1080p60 from HDMI and SDI inputs, and SD/analogue from composite — bridging the gap between modern and legacy equipment
  • Ideal for rental and staging, AV integration and any environment where multiple signal formats must be handled by a single capture device

One Device for Every Signal Format

Most professional environments do not have the luxury of working with a single signal format. A conference room may have a laptop (HDMI), a video conferencing codec (SDI) and a legacy document camera (composite). A broadcast van may carry cameras of different vintages. A rental company's kit list spans three decades of technology.

The USB Capture AIO eliminates the need to carry separate capture devices for different signals. One device handles HDMI, 3G-SDI and analogue composite — switchable via software with no hardware reconnection required. This is not simply a convenience feature; in live environments it is the difference between a smooth workflow and a frantic cable swap.

Analogue Legacy — Still Relevant

Analogue composite video remains in active use across a surprising range of professional environments: CCTV systems, legacy medical equipment, industrial cameras, educational equipment purchased before HDMI was ubiquitous, and the enormous installed base of analogue broadcast equipment still operating around the world.

The AIO captures composite analogue alongside modern digital formats in a single device — making it the logical choice for AV integrators, rental houses and IT departments supporting mixed-vintage equipment estates.

If you only ever work with a single signal type, a dedicated capture device (HDMI Gen 2, SDI Gen 2) is more cost-effective. The AIO is the right choice when format flexibility is essential.

The USB Capture AIO is the ideal single-device solution for anyone working across multiple signal formats or supporting equipment of varying vintages.

🎪

AV Rental & Staging

Rental companies supporting corporate events, conferences and exhibitions need to handle whatever signal format the client's equipment outputs. The AIO eliminates multiple capture devices, reducing kit weight, cable count and setup time at every event.

🏢

Multi-Format Corporate AV

Corporate environments with a mixture of legacy room systems, modern laptop HDMI and video conferencing codecs can use a single AIO unit to capture from any source without signal format conflicts or hardware swapping.

🔌

AV Integration — Mixed Installations

Integrators working in buildings with mixed equipment vintages can specify a single capture solution that handles the full signal range. Particularly valuable in retrofit projects where legacy equipment must interoperate with new infrastructure.

📺

Archive & Digitisation Projects

Media organisations digitising archive tape libraries (VHS, Betacam, U-matic via composite) alongside modern acquisition can use the AIO to handle both without separate hardware for each format generation.

🏫

Educational Institutions with Mixed Equipment

Schools and colleges often run equipment from multiple procurement cycles. The AIO captures from whatever the IT team finds connected — no format-specific knowledge required, no separate device inventory to manage.

🎛️

Broadcast Vans & OB Vehicles

Outside broadcast vehicles and satellite trucks need to handle multiple signal formats across different clients and jobs. A compact AIO capture device reduces rack space and cable inventory without sacrificing format coverage.

🏭

Industrial & Manufacturing Monitoring

Factory floor camera systems often mix modern IP cameras (with HDMI encoders) and legacy analogue CCTV on the same monitoring infrastructure. The AIO bridges both into software-based monitoring and analysis workflows.

🎓

University IT Departments

University IT teams supporting a campus-wide estate of teaching and research equipment spanning many technology generations need a single-solution capture device. The AIO supports whichever format each piece of equipment outputs.

⚙️

Custom Multi-Format Applications

Software developers and systems integrators building multi-format ingest solutions, media processing pipelines and custom monitoring systems can use the Magewell SDK to access HDMI, SDI and analogue capture programmatically from a single device.

Can I capture from two inputs simultaneously?

No. The USB Capture AIO presents one active capture input at a time. You select which input (HDMI, SDI or composite) is active via software. To capture multiple sources simultaneously, use multiple capture devices or a PCIe-based multi-channel card.

What resolution does the composite analogue input capture at?

The composite analogue input captures at standard definition — 480i (NTSC) or 576i (PAL). HDMI and SDI inputs capture up to 1080p60.

Does it work for digitising VHS tapes?

Yes. A VHS player or Betamax player connected via composite RCA to the AIO's analogue input can be digitised at SD quality. This is a common archival use case. The composite input accepts NTSC and PAL analogue video.

What is the difference between the AIO and buying separate HDMI and SDI devices?

The AIO is more compact and convenient when you regularly work with multiple formats but only need one active at a time. If you need to capture HDMI and SDI simultaneously and independently, you would need separate HDMI and SDI capture devices. The AIO is for format flexibility, not simultaneous multi-source capture.
