4K SDI — Professional Broadcast Quality Over USB
Professional broadcast cameras increasingly output 4K via SDI — the Sony VENICE, Panasonic VariCam, JVC GY-HC900 and many PTZ and robotic camera systems use 6G-SDI as their primary 4K output. The USB Capture SDI 4K Plus bridges this professional broadcast output directly to USB-connected computer workflows.
The 6G-SDI standard carries a single 4K channel at up to 60fps over a single BNC cable — the same infrastructure used for existing HD-SDI installations. This means 4K SDI capture can be added to existing broadcast facilities without new cabling, using the same BNC routing infrastructure already in place.
Genlock for Broadcast Production Standards
In multi-camera broadcast productions, genlock synchronisation is essential. All cameras and capture devices must be phase-locked to the facility reference signal — without this, video switchers produce frame glitches on cuts, downstream equipment may not accept the signal, and audio synchronisation becomes unreliable.
